Additional class teachers start sit-in for job regularisation
Additional class teachers (ACT) on Sunday began a sit-in for an indefinite period demanding their job regularisation.
The sit-in, organised by Bangladesh Additional Class Teachers Association (BACT), began at 10.00 am in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka.
Leaders of the association have threatened to continue the protest until their demand is fulfilled.
BACT president Koushik Chandra Barman said, “We want to back to schools after getting the letter of job permanent. Ministry of Education is ignoring the suggestion of Prime Minister's Office on this issue.”
The fate of 5,000 teachers who get job under the Secondary Education Quality and Access Enhancement Project (SEQAEP) in 2015 is uncertain now, said the leader, adding,"We're repeatedly placing our demand to make our job permanent. But, we've received only verbal assurance.”
The government with the help of the World Bank appointed 6,000 teachers under SEQAEP project in 64 remote upazilas in the country.
