Abrar's death: Charge-sheet acceptance hearing July 25
A Dhaka court fixed July 25 for the charge-sheet acceptance hearing in a case filed over the death of Abarar Ahmed Chowdhury, student of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP).
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Devdas Chandra Adhikari on Thursday (June 27) set the date.
Earlier on April 25, police pressed charge against four people, including owner and driver of Suprobhat Paribahan, over the death of Abarar Ahmed Chowdhury, student of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP).
The four accused in the case are conductor of the bus Yasin, owner of Suprobhat Paribahan Bus Gopal Sarkar, Suprobhat Transport Route president Alauddin and Managing Director Ashraf Uddin.
On the other hand, the charge sheet has been submitted against six people in a case filed over injuring Sinthia Sultana Mukta, the first year student of Mirpur Ideal Girl’s Laboratory College, after being hit by the bus.
The six accused in the case are Bus driver Sirajul Islam, driver's assistant Ibrahim, conductor of the bus Yasin, owner of Suprobhat Paribahan Bus Gopal Sarkar, Suprobhat Transport Route president Alauddin and Managing Director Ashraf Uddin.
Sub inspector Sheikh Rakibur Rahman, general registry officer of court police, told Banglanews that investigation officers submitted the charge-sheet in the case on Wednesday (April 24).
Earlier on Tuesday (March 19), Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury, 20, a first year student of International Relations Department of the Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP), was killed as a recklessly driven city bus ran over him on Pragati Sarani in the capital city.
Sirajul Islam was nabbed from the spot and a case was filed with Gulshan Police Station over the accident.
However, shocked by the unnatural death of Abrar, students from various universities took to streets demanding justice and safe transportation service countrywide.
