A ropeway from Dharamshala to Mcleodganj in just 5 minutes!

It will now be possible to travel from Dharamshala to Mcleodganj in just 5 minutes via the new ropeway route that was recently inaugurated by Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. As per the reports, the ropeway, known as the Dharamshala Skyway, is around 1.8 km and has been built at an estimated cost of more than INR 200 crores.

With the said ropeway, travellers can travel from Dharamshala to Mcleodganj, while enjoying scenic aerial views of towns. Reportedly, the ropeway has the capacity of carrying 1000 persons every hour.

  the peak tourist season, the road that connects Dharamshala and Mcleodganj witnesses frequent traffic jams; however, now the said ropeway will cut down the travel time by around 40 per cent. While inaugurating the Dharamshala Skyway, Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur stated that the project has been constructed at a cost of INR 207 crore, and that it has two stations and 10 towers.

As per the reports, the top station of this ropeway is in front of the Dalai Lama Temple, and the technology used was the Mono Cable Detachable Gondolas Technology, which has been an effective Urban Transport Technology proven in several western countries.

Note that one way tariff for travelling in this ropeway from Dharamsala to Mcleodganj is INR 300 per person, while the two way tariff is INR 500 per person.
