9 sued for attempt to kill Ivy
A case has been filed against nine people and unnamed 100 others for attempting to kill the Narayanganj City Corporation Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy during a clash at Chashara intersection of the city on January 16.

NCC authorities filed the case with Sadar Police Station on Tuesday morning accusing nine people including Niazul Islam, who was exposed in media photos carrying arms during the clash in broad daylight, said Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, reports UNB.

At least 50 people were injured in the clash between the followers of NCC Mayor Selina and Shamim Osman MP during an hawker eviction drive at Chashara intersection of the city.

Both the groups locked into a fierce clash when gunshots were also heard, said witnesses.

Earlier, Shamim Osman, MP from Narayanganj-4 constituency, asked the hawkers to carry out their business on footpaths until they are rehabilitated.

Later, both Shamim and Ivy blamed each other for the agitation.
