89-year-old New Yorker looks forwards to dance parties
Eighty-nine-year-old New Yorker Bob Holzman received his COVID-19 vaccine the moment he could, hoping it would allow him to get back to his beloved activity - dancing.Over the last 75 years, Holzman has danced his way around the city's events to the rhythms of swing, fox-trot, samba, and salsa.
And until last year, he previously never missed a good Lincoln Center's Midsummer Nights Swing opening and have been a good fixture at metropolis dance parties. When the pandemic struck in March of 2020, Holzman determined himself stuck in the home. He occupied himself studying electronic books on mortgage from the New York Open public Library and playing scrabble online with good friends. However now he is pumped up about getting back again to normality.
"It was a joke from, I think that, probably Betty Davis, she says, 'Old age is not for sissies,'" said Holzman, sitting on a wooden chair in the shadow of a sizable umbrella spread found in Bryant Park. "I consider myself lucky and fortunate that I'm nonetheless in a position to dance and leap around and have my shopping cart software and do the rest."
