85,600 families to get VGF rice in Joypurhat
A total of 85,600 poor and distress families in Joypurhat district will get 1,284 metric tons of rice under the Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme of 2018-2019 fiscal ahead of holy Eid-ul-Azha festival.
Department of Disaster Management (DDM) has already begun the distribution programme.
The government has taken the decision to spread the happiness of Eid among the destitute and helpless families, said DDM.
The administration has given instruction to distribute the rice before Eid.
The government has imposed 12 conditions. Families who fulfil any four conditions will get rice under VGF programme.
DDM sources said 951 MT of rice has been allocated for 63,400 destitute families of 32 unions in five upazilas of the district while 333 MT of rice has been allocated for 22,200 poor families in five municipalities of the district.
District Disaster Management and Relief Officer Mofakkharul Islam said that 15 kg rice will be distributed against each card.
