72-hour strike by Khulna jute mill workers underway
Workers of the state-owned jute mills are continuing their a 72-strike, and roads and rail routes blockade for four hours in Khulna on Wednesday to press home their demands including implementation of the wage commission.
The workers of state-owned nine jute mills of Khulna region took to the street at 6:00am to observe the strike.
They blocked the Khulna-Jashore highway, from Natun Rasta intersection to Sonadanga Bus Stand, BIDC road and railway.
They also brought procession staged demonstration by torching tyre and held rally.
The jute mill workers also observed yesterday the strike across the country, blocking roads and rail routes in different places of the country from 8:00am to 12:00pm.
Production at nine jute mills in the Khulna region remain suspended following the strike.
The workers resumed protests from March 31 as their demands were not fulfilled by the government within their stipulated time.
