5 more hospitals fined for overcharging, anomalies
A mobile court handed Tk 18 lakh fine to five more hospitals and diagnostic centers in the capital city, on charge of overcharging dengue tests and other irregularities, on Wednesday (July 31).
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam conducted the drive in Paltan and Fakirapur area, from the noon to evening.
The five medical centers are-- Islami Bank Specialized Hospital, Apan Medical Center, Medicus Diagnostic Center, Sohag Diagnostic, Islami Specialized and Diagnostic Center.
Apart from fining, two of the medical centers were sealed off and five personnel were handed jail terms.
The allegations include overcharging dengue test, preparing report without conducting test, faking physician signature in reports and possessing expired drug items and surgical kits.
