34 Rohingyas held while attempting to travel to Malaysia
Police early Wednesday detained 34 Rohingyas, including women and children, when they were attempting to travel to Malaysia from Cox's Bazar.

They were detained from Darianagar Borochhara area of the district town, said Sadar Police Station officer in-charge Farid Uddin Khandaker.

Among the detainees, there are 11 male, 15 female and eight children, the OC added. 

On information that a group of people is being gathered aiming to cross over the ocean to Malaysia, a team of police conducted drive in the area and nabbed the Rohingyas but the traffickers fled the scene.

OC Farid said an organized human trafficking group was gathering these Rohingyas from Ukhiya and Teknaf''s different refugee camps for trafficking them.

Rescued Rohingyas now have been kept under police custody. Later, they will be sent to their respective camps, the police official added.
