Three persons including a schoolgirl were killed as the cylinder of a microbus of Narayanganj police blasted in Tangail town early Tuesday (July 17) while returning from Rajshahi after rescuing the girl after her abduction. 

Three persons including a schoolgirl, who was rescued after her abduction, were killed as the microbus of police carrying them blasted in Tangail town early Tuesday (July 17).

The deceased are—the girl Jannatul Ferdous Borna, 19, her cousin Faruk, 42, and her uncle Sirajul islam, 55. 

Four others including three policemen were injured in the explosion.

The explosion occurred near Kumudini Government College in the town, around 5am.

A police team from Narayanganj came to Rajshahi by a microbus, to rescue the abducted girl, Sonargaon Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Tanvir Ahmed told Banglanews.

The microbus was refilled at a CNG filling station in New Bus Stand area of Tangail town, en route to Sonargaon after rescuing the girl.

The gas cylinder of the microbus exploded after getting a friction at a speed-breaker near Kumudini Govt College, leaving Borna and Faruk dead on the spot and five others injured.

The injured were whisked-off to Tangail General Hospital.

Of them, Sirajul succumbed to his injuries.
