Shafiul in World Bank, Anwarul to be cabinet secretary
Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam is set to take over as executive director of the World Bank's Washington office on Sunday (September 1) for three years.
Senior Secretary to the Bridges Division Khandker Anwarul Islam will replace him as Cabinet Secretary.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal made the remarks at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Procurement in the conference room of the Cabinet Division at the Secretariat on Wednesday (August 28).
AHM Mustafa Kamal, who chaired the meeting, said Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam would be Alternative Director of the World Bank for greater service to the country. Everything has been finalized in this regard.
For three years he has been the Executive Director of Alternatives. He may be joining next September.
When asked about new cabinet secretary, the minister said that Senior Secretary to the Bridges Division Khandker Anwarul Islam will be appointed as the new cabinet secretary.
The tenure of Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam will end this October.
