Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, Eberechi Eze and Myles Lewis-Skelley were included in the starting line-up for the Gunners after not starting in the first leg last week in Madrid.

Arsenal vs Atletico Madrid Champions League semi final 2026 ended with Bukayo Saka’s decisive strike as the Gunners secured a 1-0 win. Bukayo Saka sends Arsenal to Champions League final after a 2-1 aggregate victory, marking Arsenal Champions League final after 20 years.

The games was played at a lively tempo in the early stages of the encounter, with Julian Alvarez looking to get an early goal in the opening ten minutes when he carved out some space on the edge of the box before firing inches wide of the upright.

It was Arsenal's turn to carve out an opening of their own on the 20-minute mark when Gabriel was afforded some space outside the 18-yard area but just like Alvarez, the Brazilian was unable to find the back of the net. The Gunners got their reward on the stroke of halftime when Trossard unleashed a low strike that forced goalkeeper Bernd Leno to parry into the path of Saka, who fired home from six-yards out to put the English side 2-1 up on aggregate.

Atletico came out firing in the second half and they went close to pulling level after Giuliano Simeone pounced on Gabriel's poor headed pass before rounding David Raya and sending his effort wide, while the referee waved away appeals of a penalty.

With the visiting upping the tempo, Gunners manager Mikel Arteta responded with a triple change as Saka, Riccardo Calafiori and Eze made way for Noni Madueke, Martin Odegaard and Piero Hincapie for the final 30 minutes.

Hincapie nearly made the perfect impact when he carved out a glorious chance with 15 minutes to play when his wonderful cross found an un-marked Victor Gyokeres, who blazed over the crossbar with only Oblak to beat.

The Gunners were not made to pay for the big miss as Atletico were unable to carve out any serious openings in the latter stages of the second half, as Arsenal held out until the end to secure their spot in the final, ending their 20-year wait after their last finals appearance.
