Road crash kills 2, causes traffic jam on Bangabandhu Bridge
Two persons were killed and seven others injured as two vehicles collided on the Bangabandhu Bridge early Sunday.
The accident left the street blocked for just two hours which caused an extended traffic congestion on the road.
The identities of the deceased and injured cannot be known immediately.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Station Mosaddek Hossain confirmed the problem.
He said a Dhaka-bound vehicle lost control and overturned when it reached Pillar No 18 of the bridge. In those days, a passenger bus of ‘Shyamoli Paribahan’ rammed the maxi at 3:30am, leaving two passengers of the vehicle at that moment and seven others injured.
The injured were delivered to Tangail Sadar Hospital, he added.
The bodies were sent to 250-bed Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib General Hospital in Sirajganj, the OC added.
