Lankan sports minister asks to reconsider conditions for Tigers
Sri Lanka’s Minister of Athletics Namal Rajapaksa has instructed Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to consider concerns raised by Bangladesh Cricket Panel (BCB) over Bangladesh’s scheduled tour of Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan rejected SLC’s conditions and conditions for the Test series which included a 14-day stringent quarantine and a small touring group.

Following a rejection, Minister of Sports activities Namal Rajapaksa instructed SLC to negotiate with the Countrywide Operations Centre for preventing COVID-19 and consider the objections raised by the BCB.

He further said Sri Lanka is very well aware that the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be at large globally and prevention methods certainly are a high priority.

SLC has been instructed to reconsider the problem and discuss with medical authorities given the importance of cricket in the region, Minister Namal Rajapaksa added.

He asked SLC to talk with COVID taskforce to see whether any improvements can be made to the bio-safety plan.

“As we all know the #COVID19 pandemic continues to be most importantly globally, prevention measures certainly are a high priority. Even so, given the significance of #cricket in your community, I've asked @OfficialSLC to consult the covid task drive and reconsider the @BCBtigers subject,” Namal was quoted in the tweet on Monday.
