Government bans 47 more Chinese mobile apps
India has banned 47 more Chinese applications just weeks after blocking the highly popular video-sharing platform TikTok and 58 others over national secureness and privacy worries, an facts ministry official said Monday.
“We've banned 47 mobile applications from China in this ongoing training which highlights the government’s seriousness about data privacy and secureness,” the official, who asked to stay anonymous, told AFP.
“The order was issued on Friday. Most of these 47 apps are banned for the same causes as the sooner 59, and several were lite versions or variants of the sooner banned applications.”
There has been no official statement or order released by the federal government about the ban yet.
Anti-China sentiment possesses soared since a good deadly clash found in mid-June where 20 Indian soldier were killed. It sparked street protests and demands Chinese products to be banned.
As many as 275 other Chinese apps could also be in the chopping block above similar concerns, like the hugely popular “PUBG Mobile” game owned by tech giant Tencent.
From playthings, cosmetics and purses and handbags to home appliances, pharma, auto ingredients, and metal, China exports a lot more than 3,000 products to India.
