EC defers polls day by a week
The Election Commission has deferred the polling day of the 11th parliamentary elections for seven days to 30 December.
Chief election commissioner KM Nurul Huda on Monday announced the rescheduled polls day following calls for its deferral from opposition coalition Jatiya Oikya Front and others political parties.

The EC also rescheduled the last date of submitting nomination papers for 28 November.

Earlier, Election Commission announced the schedule of the national election on 23 December while the last date for submitting nomination papers was 19 November.

Meanwhile, both of the main political parties - ruling Bangladesh Awami League and Bangladesh Nationalist Party - have started selling nominations papers.

The EC has already appointed deputy commissioners for all the districts and two divisional commissioners as Returning Officers (ROs) to conduct the 11th national elections.
