7 children drown in 5 districts’ water
Seven children drowned in ponds and swampy grounds in Barishal, Naogaon, Rajbari, Kishoreganj and Gaibandha districts on Monday (August 26).

In Barishal, two siblings--Imran, 7 and Ayesha, 5 --drowned in a pond of Gutia union under Wazirpur upazila, sub inspector (SI) of local police outpost Monirm confirmed the deaths to Banglanews.

Alamgir Hossen was father of the two victims, hailing from the same union.

In Naogaon, a three-year-old child-Shifat- drowned in a swampy ground at Anantopur village in Porsha upazila. Officer-in-charge (OC) of Porsha Police Station Shahinur Rahamn confirmed the incident to Bnaglanews.

Shifat, son of Shah Jamal, was from the aforementioned area.

In Rajbari, a two-year-old child, Ariya, drowned in a swampy ground close to his residence at Govindapur village in Jamalpur union of Baliakandi upazila.

Ariya, son of Azim Sheikh, fell into water while playing a sport, local sources said.

In Kishoreganj, a three-year-old child drowned in a pond of Pitolganj village under Hossenpur Upazila.

The victim--Rakib Miah, son of Russell Miah who hails from the same area, fell into the pond unbeknown to everyone.

In Gaibandha, two girls drowned in a swampy ground of Pepulijor village under Mohdipur union of Palashbari upazila.

Two girls-Arefin, 11, daughter of Abed Ali and Rukhsana, 9, daughter of Rashidul—fell into the water while returning home, Mohdipur Union Parishad Chairman Towhidul Islam Mondol told Banglanews.

District correspondents reported the incidents.
